How to reinstall or repair your server

Reinstalling rebuilds your server from scratch on the same plan — same game or a different one, your choice. It’s the tool for a fresh start, a version or location change, or fixing a server that’s got itself into a bad state. Your plan, price and any Performance Boost carry straight over.

  • Start fresh — a brand-new world on the same game, without the old files hanging around.
  • Change the version — jump to a newer (or specific) Minecraft version, or a different modpack version.
  • Move location — rebuild in a region closer to your players for a lower ping (see Why is my server lagging?).
  • Fix a broken server — if a server won’t start, is corrupted, or a bad config has it stuck, a clean reinstall is the reliable reset.
  • Switch to a different game — same button; see Switch games for that path.
  1. Open your server at panel.qubesquad.com and go to the Settings tab.
  2. Scroll to Reinstall / Swap Game and click the button.
  3. Leave your current game selected.
  4. Choose your options — the flavour (e.g. Paper vs Vanilla, Oxide vs Vanilla), a version or modpack version, the location, and a name.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. To confirm, type the server’s name, then click Destroy & rebuild.

The old server is destroyed and a fresh one is built. It moves through installing and then starts up — you can watch the live log in the Console tab, and the page updates itself when it’s ready.

Reinstall vs Restart vs Cancel — which do I want?

These are easy to mix up, so here’s the difference:

ActionWhat it doesYour data
Restart (power button)Reboots the server — the everyday fix for glitchesKept
Reinstall (this guide)Rebuilds a clean server on the same planWiped, billing continues
Cancel / Delete (Danger zone)Ends the server and the subscription for goodWiped, billing stops

If your server is just misbehaving, try Restart first — it keeps everything and fixes most hiccups. Reach for a reinstall only when you actually want a clean slate.
