How to switch games

Your Qubesquad plan isn’t tied to one game. It’s a block of resources — 6 GB RAM, 3 CPU cores and 25 GB SSD — that can run any game we host. So you can turn a Minecraft server into a Rust server (and back) whenever you like, on the same plan and the same $9.99/month price. No second order.

Before you start — save anything you want to keep

Switching games rebuilds the server from scratch. The current world, files and backups are permanently deleted.

If you might want your current world again later, download a backup (or the world folder over SFTP) to your computer first. Once you confirm the switch, it’s gone.

Switch the game

1. Open your server at panel.qubesquad.com and go to the Settings tab.
2. Scroll to Reinstall / Swap Game and click the button.
3. Choose the new game.
4. Pick any options it offers — the flavour (e.g. Paper vs Vanilla, or Oxide vs Vanilla for Rust), a version or modpack, the location, and a name.
5. Click Continue.
6. To confirm, type the server’s name, then click Destroy & rebuild.

We destroy the old server and build the new one fresh. It’ll go through installing and then start up — you can watch in the Console tab.

Your plan and Boost come with you

Your subscription, price and any Performance Boost carry over automatically. You’re changing what runs, not what you pay.

Good to know

• Reinstalling the same game uses this exact flow — it’s how you start completely fresh (a clean world, current version) on the game you already have. See Reinstall or repair your server for that, plus how it differs from a restart or cancelling.
• Your address may change. The server’s name is also its web address. If you rename it during the rebuild, share the new address with your players.
• Check the game fits your plan. Most games run great on the base plan; a few big ones (like ARK, Palworld, CS2 and Satisfactory) include the Boost automatically because they need the extra room.
