How to wipe a Rust server
A wipe resets your Rust server so everyone starts from nothing — bases gone, inventories cleared, a fresh beginning. Rust communities wipe regularly (many do it weekly or monthly). Here’s how to do it on Qubesquad.
Option A — quick map wipe (via the file manager)
Section titled “Option A — quick map wipe (via the file manager)”This clears the world so everyone respawns fresh.
- Open your server at panel.qubesquad.com and Stop it (top-right power buttons).
- Go to the Files tab and open the
serverfolder, then the identity folder inside it (often namedrustor your server’s identity). - Delete the world save files — the ones ending in
.mapand.sav(including any numbered.sav.1,.sav.2rolling saves). - For a blueprint wipe (players re-learn everything), also delete the blueprint/player data files in that folder.
- Go back to the top and press Start.
Rust generates a fresh world on startup and everyone begins again.
Option B — full fresh reinstall
Section titled “Option B — full fresh reinstall”Want a completely clean slate — server files and all? Reinstall Rust from scratch:
- Go to Settings → Reinstall / Swap Game.
- Keep Rust selected, pick your framework (Oxide, Carbon or Vanilla), location and name.
- Click Continue, type the server name to confirm, and Destroy & rebuild.
This keeps your plan and any Boost, and builds a brand-new Rust server. See Switch games for the full walkthrough.
Option C — a brand-new map seed
Section titled “Option C — a brand-new map seed”The map’s look is set by its seed. A new seed means a genuinely new map. Because the seed is part of your server’s world configuration, the simplest way to roll a fresh one is to click Get help on your server and ask us to set a new seed for your next wipe — tell us if you want a specific seed or a random one.
About forced wipes
Section titled “About forced wipes”When Rust ships its monthly update (the first Thursday of each month), servers must wipe to run the new version — blueprints usually wipe then too. When that day comes:
- Restart your server from the dashboard so it updates to the new version.
- Do a map wipe (Option A) if it didn’t clear automatically.
Weekly wipes in between are entirely up to you.
